What made you want to come to Lewis & Clark?

Both sides of my family are from Eugene and Roseburg, Oregon. After growing up on the east coast, I wanted a change of scenery and an opportunity to challenge myself both personally and academically.

What have you been doing since graduation?

I’ve gotten married! Twice! My first wedding took place in Newport Beach, CA in March of 2020. Needless to say, things didn’t go as planned! We went from a two hundred plus person wedding down to a ten person backyard wedding in the matter of days due to Covid-19. Last summer my wife Sophie and I had an additional wedding in Brittany, France on her family’s farm and brewery. I have also moved down to Southern California for work and now spend my time helping my wife run a nonprofit children’s choir, the Young Singers of Orange County. I have also joined the Woodard Family Foundation as a fifth generation board member based in Cottage Grove, Oregon. As the eighth oldest family foundation in the state, the place-based philanthropic work brings me up north frequently to give back to the State of Oregon.

How did Lewis & Clark prepare you for your job?

Lewis & Clark gave me the tools to tackle in any scenario, the work you put in truly allows you to achieve any goal you set for yourself both personally and professionally.

What would you say is the most important thing you learned at Lewis & Clark?

How to listen and communicate.

Why did you major in rhetoric and media studies?

To give myself the tools to make the uncomfortable comfortable! As an individual with ADHD and dyslexia, there were points in my life where oratory in any situation would make me squirm. Rhetoric and media studies instilled confidence in me that not only can I set my mind to whatever I see fit, but that I can thrive and succeed in any endeavor!

How do you stay connected to Lewis & Clark as an alum?

As of late, I have been staying connected with Lewis & Clark via social media! As an out of state alum now, social media has given me a small window into the incredible changes that are taking place every day on campus.

Where did you find your community on campus?

The men’s and women’s golf team welcomed me with open arms. From the get-go I had instant friends that I still talk to on a daily basis. The friends I made on the team have and will last a lifetime!
