Peer Body Project

The Peer Body Project is a unique program consisting of a series of four weekly discussion groups led by peer educators. These groups are designed to help participants resist cultural pressures to conform to the appearance standards or ideals of beauty and to reduce their pursuit of an unrealistic ideal.

Discussion groups are open to people of all genders who are impacted by societal standards of beauty. Staff from all departments within Wellness Services are collaborating with researchers in Oregon and Texas to implement and assess the Peer Body Project. This Project is taking place at 60 colleges and universities around the country.

Please note that attendance is important for all four weekly (one-hour) groups, and the material and discussion each week builds upon the previous groups. We will schedule a make up session if needed due to unforeseen absence (e.g. illness), and we do request that you plan to attend all four sessions.

Groups for Spring 2020 are now forming and we plan to start the week of February 17, 2020. If you are interested in participating in the program as a group member, please follow this link and you will be contacted by a staff member within one week for more information.
